Sun down and all around,
slivers in the salty air
of light and sound and laughter for keeps.
We sat there, prim as roses
and passed views awild
on all things, pebbles and pieces, boulders and basics.
Nimble as the ripples
that beat against the rocks,
we regaled one another
with stories, raucous and raw,
exchanged secrets and woes again,
refusing to be crabby even about
bosses and pouts domestic
as the sun kept time, downing us
in a lambent afterglow:
an evening to savour.
p.s: the first 2 lines are expected to remind you of a Belinda Carlisle song; one that i love
p.p.s: This one’s dedicated to Neetika, R and M; we should do this more often
