Hour-glass Figures

Half a look at the cuckoo clock

as it oozes time

minutely and masterfully

and pushes me forward,

unwilling as i am,

through vents, holes and

sliding through pipes winding,

i try desperately

to structure time

into blocks and boxes

neat and lined

in nasty numbers,

so carefully

coz i hate being ticked off…

have i got it right this time,

timing my flight for the seconds’ time?

is it for keeps

at least this time round

or will i keep going round?

can i look back just one more time,

pause and take a breath

at times at times

before getting sucked

by the quick sands of time?

please,

stop

me.
