snacking on me

am i an afternoon pastime,

a muffin to be munched at tea-time-

to be devoured if you’re in the mood

for doughnuts and fluff?

to be discarded after a bite

if flake’s not in flavour?

should i try changing my skin,

repackage my spin,

day after day,

just to get you to snack

on me and stay in my orbit?

try as i do,

sugar just falls off,

leaving me spicy

and at times, cheesy.

hey, that reminds me-

how about coffee tomorrow?

i’ll play strawberry and cream-

a cheesy-cake just for you.

turn up, do and take a bite

of me, the new luddite.

p.s: owe the first line to Suzanne Vega’s song- ‘Machine Ballerina’
